STAMPIN' UP: ATTIC BOUTIQUE SUITE!!!

Finally!  Today I can start sharing with you my projects I made for Ronda Wade's Sale-A-Bration (SAB) event yesterday.  Yes, I did crawl to the event; our roads were not plowed and the ones that were plowed were worse because it exposed the ice!!  I think I did get up to 35 mph, and did not give a crap if somebody was following me (which never happened because nobody in their right mind was up that early traveling on the roads).  It was sooooo worth the trip, as I learned tons of new stuff and the other presenters had some really awesome projects.  Ronda's make'n takes were, as usual, so awesome and more projects than she had told us she was doing.  The entire day was super fantastic!

I have a lot of information to give you today, so I'm going to jump right to my tutorial on how I prepared this darling note-card purse.  I had saved a picture of it and asked all my Late Night Stamper friends if they new who had created it.  Nobody new, but I got tons of e-mail asking me how to make it.  I finally found the picture on our Demonstrator Stampin' Connection web site, went to her (Amy Kircher's) blog, but no instructions included.  So, I don't know how Amy made hers but this is how I made the following purse (because there are so many pictures, they all small, please right-click to enlarge in new window):

Note Card Purse Directions – Sandi Dailey

 Supplies:

            12" x 6" Cardstock

            5 ½" x 7 ½" Matching Cardstock
            2 Pieces of 6" x 4" Designer Series Paper
            4 or 5 Brads
            2 Pieces of 10 ½" of Ribbon
            Adorning Accents Edgelits Die
            Adorning Accents Textured Impressions Embossing Folders
            Simply Scoring Tool
            Big Shot
            Sticky Strip
            Piercing Tool
            Pencil & Ruler

Directions:

    1.        Cut cardstock for purse base at 12" x 6".

    2.        Score at 5 ½" and 6 ½"on 12" length.

 

3.  On the front and back inside of the base put a tic mark ½" in on the top of the center score lines (on the 6" width).

4.  Using ruler, draw a line starting at tic mark up to the top corner edge on all 4 marks and then across the center score lines from back panel tic to front panel.

5.  Cut off pieces where you have drawn the lines (this makes the sides on the front and 
     back of your purse shorter at bottom in “V” shape. 

 6. Use Adorning Accents Edgelit on top and bottom (front and back).

7. Use Adorning Accents Embossing Folder underneath the Edgelit cuts.

8.    Cut 2 pieces of 6" x 4" Designer Series Paper.

9.    Run both pieces through the big shot using the Adorning Accents Edgelits Die on top and bottom.

10.  Adhere Designer Series Paper to the purse on front and back (centering).

and then turn over and trim the sides.

 11.   Attach flower and any other decorations/accesories you might want.

12.  Use Piercing tool to attach the two 10 ½" pieces of ribbon to the top front and back of the purse, using the four brads. (I folded the purse together so I could pierce both sides at the same time so they would line up)

13.   Make card box using 5 ½" x 7 ½" piece of matching card stock.

14.   Score box piece on long side (7 ½") at 1" and 4 ½".

15.  Turn to short side (5 ½") on Simply Scoring Tool and score at 3 ¼" and 4 ¼".

16. Fold on all score lines, using bone folder, and cut just the center score lines up to the 1" scores on sides.

17. Apply Sticky Tape to center 1" flaps so it is on the “outside” of the box; apply more Sticky Tape to “inside”long flaps on top-left and bottom-right of long flap and adhere the sides together.

18.   Use a strip of Sticky Tape at bottom of box and both long sides to adhere box to the inside of your purse (centering).

BUCKLE PURSE FOR 3" X 3" NOTE CARDS

Well I got my house all cleaned so that means I can sit down and play!!  WooHoo!!!  But even before I do that, I thought I would share with you an oldie-but goodie Buckle Purse for 3" x 3" Note Cards that I made for my thank you gifts this month.  This pattern was introduced to me from my upline, Ronda Wade, way back in 2006, and I love it now just as much as I loved it then.  So simple to make, but it is always a WOW.  I was afraid I wouldn't find my instructions so I could get all the measurements.  But I did, and I am so glad I only had 2 different places I had to check.

So moving right along (as I want to play you know), here is how it turned out:


I inserted four card and envelopes -- nothing fancy, but I liked them and they look so pretty in person as I misted with Champange Mist.  Click on the pictures to enlarge.  I used Night of Navy Card Stock and Classic Ink, of course my favorite Springtime Vintage Designer Series Paper, Perfect Punches Stamp Set, Vanilla Grosgrain Ribbon, Rhinestones, and Elegant Lines Embossing Folder.

Late Mother's Day and Purse

Good Morning America!!

Rain, rain, go away!!  I guess we Michiganders just aren't happy unless we have sunshine every day -- which will never happen here in Michigan.  Yes, I know we need the rain for our Spring flowers; but give me a break for at least one day. 

So today I am going to my studio and make more purses, as both my granddaughters want their own like I made for their mom on her birthday (pictures below).  You will notice this one is larger with a flap over the top -- special request from my daughter.  This was my "purse from Hell."  Everything that could happen, happened!  I think I went through 3 needles, tore it apart more times than I could count, and still ended up with a couple of "oops."  And I hate doing the handles to the purses. So wouldn't you know, the only thing my daughter wanted changed (if I wouldn't mind) was the length of the handle -- she wanted it longer.  Of course, like any good mother, I said no problem (if she only knew!!).  She did really like it, both with scallops and reversed without scallops.

These 2 cards are Mother's Day cards that I forgot to post.  The Elements of Style card above was painted with Crystal Effects prior to attaching to Whisper White cardstock (which was embossed with the Lattice Embossing Folder and sponged with inks).

I originally made this for my swap cards to hand out at Ronda's last RubberQueen meeting, but I had so many left over I decided to change the sentiment and use for a Mother's Day card.  If you right-click on this card to open in a new tab, you will be able to see all the Smooch Spritz added -- it really dressed up the card.  And yes, that is the Tulip Bigz Die used for the flower vase.

Well after writing this post and remembering how I messed up on the above purse, I think I will pass on starting another purse today.  It is really a lot more than what I want to handle today.  Instead,  I think I will finish making a card that I am casing for my next post.

My Purse

Hi everyone! Did you miss me? Yep, I’ve been playing hooky. There has been so much going on in the last couple of weeks that updating my blog went way down on the priority list. I have been working on a few projects, but forgot to take pictures before I gave them away or I can’t show them yet.

Anyway, I am suppose to be packing right now for Ronda’s Getaway Weekend – I believe this is her fifth one and I have attended all of them. So I better post a picture because I know it will be at least 4 days before I post again. I finally got around to doing my rag purse. Was going to do it a month ago and decided yesterday morning to start it, then after cutting out the material using my Big Shot and Square Scallop Die, I decided that nothing has changed: I STILL CAN’T SEW AND IT IS STILL ON THE VERY BOTTOM OF MY LIST OF THINGS TO DO!! My sister talked me into finishing it this morning so here is what I ended up with:

This is the front. This material is probably over 40 years old as it belonged to my Grandmother, so I am surprised it didn't fall apart.

This is the back view -- yes, the purse is full but I did have enough room for everything!

I followed Patty Bennett’s directions (thank God she had pictures – thank you Patty!!). Of course I didn’t understand any of the “sewing” language so just punted and made up stuff so I could get it done. Don’t get me wrong – if I did not have my trusty Big Shot, I would have NEVER attempted making one. My husband said it looked very nice, and I like it better than I did this morning (could it be because I didn’t wash my material before I started like I was suppose to and now that it has been washed and dried it looks better???) And yes, I did have to get my 40-year old sewing manual out to remember how to thread my bobbin. And that was after I cleaned all the cobwebs out of the 40-year old sewing machine. I know my very BFF is laughing her head off out in Prescott, Arizona reading this because she is like a seamstress and has made tons of clothes for my girls.

Before I leave you, I have one other amazing thing that happened to me yesterday. I found out that my cell phone has an On/Off button on it. I’m telling yah, what they won’t think of next. Here I always thought it was off unless I pushed the “OK” button. Well yesterday my brother called and wanted to know why I wasn’t answering my cell and I checked and found out it wouldn’t work (just a black screen). I charged it, but still wouldn’t work. Later that day, my husband was going to take it over to Verizon to get it fixed when all of a sudden the light bulb came on in my head (yes, it does happen once in a while), so I pushed this button on top – and there it was!! I was so proud of myself, as I haven’t even opened the manual up yet.
